Target Audience
My target audience will be students enrolled at the college already and people intrested in joining , so ages 16-19, also I will include some articles aimed at parents as they may wish to get a bit of information on were their child is going. I want to include a lot of pictures to keep the teens intrested and will talk about student life , subjects at wyke and sport activities.
Magazine price and how often published
When thinking about the pricing of magazine I considered how much your average student would have to spend on somthing which isnt a necessity and this isnt very much so i have decided to have my magazine price as either a really low ammount eg: 20p or to just have it free but i dont want people to see that it is free so they take one just for the sake of it and have no intention of reading it so 20p or somthing low is probably a better idea beacuse the people buying it will intend to read it. I am going to publish my magazine once a month becuase i want plenty of information in it and not just enough to fill a couple of pages and I dont want to be scraping for stories.

Market Research
L - The masthead on this college magazine is large and takes up most of the width of the page, the main picture on the cover covers the masthead which through my research this appears to be the fashion amongst most magazines. The magazine uses a consistent colour scheme with the primary colour being black the secondary’s: yellow and white, there are several fonts used on the cover but it still looks tidy and not too much as they are all sans serif.The text of the masthead is written in a yellow, bold, sans serif font. This immediately grabs the reader’s attention as yellow is an eye catching colour.
I - The ideology is to try and demonstrate that the man on the cover who is a student is enjoying life at the college studying this is shown by the books he is holding and the smile on his face.
I - The institution is the college in Jamaica.
A – College Lifestyle magazine is a magazine aimed at the students of a college in Jamaica although this magazine is of Jamaican production the magazine has a broad appeal to young people everywhere as it features things which young people can relate to for example Blackberry’s, making money and about the actual college so people know what to expect from it.I think that the magazine focuses more on the lives of students today than the actual college.
R – The college is represented in a way that makes it look like a good place to learn.

L - The masthead on this college magazine is quite small in the left hand top corner, The background of the magazine is very plain and doesn’t really stand out, only two colours are used : black and white , also one font is used but is adapted for instance in the top right corner it is in italics , the main image doesn’t seem to relate to any of the text on the page which could be considered poor layout. The college’s logo features in the bottom corner which is good as people will recognise which institution it is representing.
I - The ideology is to try and show that a diverse amount of activities can be done at the college such as dancing , football and apprenticeships.
I - The institution is Lewisham college
A – The audience of the magazine is current students of the college and people thinking of joining I think this because it says “meet the faces of Lewisham College” and this sounds like it is introducing people so it is not daunting on their first day.
R – The college is represented in a way that makes it look like it is very active and there is plenty of activities to join in with.
I think the layout of the contents page is pretty good as it is functional but not great to look at as once again it is very plain , on the inside page there is a message from the head teacher which is a nice touch as it is written in a way as if she is talking to you personally , the word “contents” is written in bold and in purple to try and make it stand out as a heading. L-The masthead for this magazine is very big in the top right hand corner and stands out well against the blue background as the colours complement each other.The magazine features the headlines of the stories contained in the mag. and is structured well with a clean consisted design using three colours (blue , grey and white). The article features a slogan "the word on the street..." which is done to relate to the readers as they will be in their teens and this is seeen as a stereotypical way of how teenagers talk.

Task 3: Identify and explain choice of College
I picked Wyke as the college I was going to base my magazine on because it is a good place to learn and make friends and I want more people to know about it as I feel it could do with more exposure also I want to show that the stereotype of teens isn’t true and that many try to better themselves through further education. Also it will be easier to get photos of the college as I attend Wyke.
